Berlin
A wax museum in Berlin was forced to close this week because of complaints about an effigy of Adolf Hitler. The wax Hitler statue was displayed alongside other figures from World War II, including Stalin and Roosevelt. It attracted numerous complaints from visitors who feared that the museum, situated near the Checkpoint Charlie border crossing between what used to be East and West Berlin, would draw pilgrimages from neo-Nazis. The bank that leased the building to the museum has refused to renew the lease, and the museum director said she was unsure whether she’d be able to find another location.
