Rebel cult slaughters refugees
The week's news at a glance.

The rebel group Lord’s Resistance Army attacked a refugee camp in Uganda this week, burning people alive in their grass huts and shooting those who fled. Nearly 200 unarmed civilians were killed, including women and children. “The rebels came into my hut and shot me in my bed,” said survivor Molly Auma. “I had my baby on my shoulder and that’s how he got shot as well.” The religious rebel group, which has been terrorizing northern Uganda for years, says it wants the country to be governed by the Ten Commandments. Members recruit children as fighters by kidnapping them and forcing them to kill their parents.
