Rome
Vice President Dick Cheney toured Switzerland and Italy this week, urging Europe to stand tough in the war on terror. In Italy, the vice president thanked Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi for his country’s support in Iraq, where Italy has the third-largest contingent of troops, after the U.S. and Britain. Italy has been “a steadfast partner on every front,” Cheney said, “from law enforcement to diplomacy to intelligence.” Throughout his trip, the vice president ignored questions from American reporters about Iraq’s missing weapons of mass destruction.
