Neo-Nazi plot foiled
The week's news at a glance.
Munich
Skinheads were planning a bomb attack at a ceremony laying the foundation for a Jewish community center in November, Germany’s interior minister said this week. Otto Schily said 10 people were arrested with several kilograms of TNT and other weapons, as well as a “hit list” of other Jewish and foreign targets. Neo-Nazis are growing more brazen in their anti-Semitic activities, according to Schily. “There is a new quality of terror,” he said. “Right-wing extremists are a great potential danger for our society.” The bombing would have coincided with the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the night in 1938 when Nazis attacked thousands of Jewish businesses and murdered hundreds of Jews.
