A Kansas woman named Donna Lynette Walker surrendered to police this week to face charges that she conned an Indiana couple into believing that she was their long-lost daughter. Shannon Marie Sherrill was 6 when she disappeared during a game of hide-and-seek in 1986. Walker, 35, allegedly telephoned Shannon’s parents, police, and reporters, and convinced them that she was the missing girl. The caller never asked for money, and police could not fathom a motive. Walker has been suspected of making crank calls and bomb threats in several states. Dorothy Sherrill, Shannon’s mother, said she hoped Walker would be extradited to Indiana to “get everything she deserves.”
