Beach tragedy

Miami Beach
A police sport utility vehicle ran over two French tourists who were sunbathing on Miami Beach this week, killing one and critically injuring the other. The two women, Sandrine and Stephanie Tunc, did not see the 2-ton SUV coming. Officer George Varon was searching the beach for robbery suspects, with his siren off. As hundreds of horrified beachgoers watched, Varon rolled over the women, and backed up before realizing what had happened. Stephanie Tunc, 27, died, her chest crushed. “They probably picked a spot right next to the lifeguard station because they thought it was safer,” a witness said, “and look what happened.”
