Princess Margarita of the Netherlands said this week that the royal family had bugged her home and was smearing her name because it disapproved of her commoner husband. She told the weekly HP/De Tijd that the palace was feeding the tabloids unflattering stories about her, even releasing private documents belonging to her husband. “I was loyal to my family my entire life, but the moment I expected support there was none,” she said. “They have tried to destroy what makes me happy.” The princess, a niece of Queen Beatrix, married businessman Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn two years ago, when she was 28. She said she had been “frozen out” of the family ever since.
