Thousands mourn murderer
The week's news at a glance.
Quetta, Pakistan
Hundreds of Pakistanis shouted “Death to America” at Quetta airport in Pakistan this week upon the arrival of the body of a man who was executed for killing two CIA employees. Aimal Khan Kasi was killed by lethal injection in Virginia for the 1993 shooting of commuters heading to work at CIA headquarters in Langley. Before he died, he told the BBC that Americans deserve to die because of their “anti-Muslim policies” in the Middle East. Some 20,000 people packed a soccer stadium near Kasi’s home for the funeral. “Aimal Kasi was martyred by the imperialist America,” said Muslim cleric Hussain Ahmed Sherodi in the eulogy. “Aimal Kasi’s martyrdom has united Muslims against the United States.”
