Practicing yoga can be a challenge without an instructor's guiding hand, said Jessica Hullinger at Fast Company. But for those struggling to perfect their downward dog at home, a pair of vibrating exercise tights makes a good teacher substitute.
Nadi, smart yoga pants designed by Australia-based Wearable Experiments, use subtle vibrations to correct the wearer's form and body alignment. The tights "don't appear particularly high-tech," but they have a layer of tiny sensors woven into the fabric at the wearer's hips, knees, and ankles that scan the body to see if it's in the correct position. Say a yogi's hip is rotated too far inward during a pose. "A vibration will move across the hip in an outward direction." Wearable Experiments also has plans to make form-correcting clothing for other sports, like boxing, cycling, and weight lifting. The Nadi tights will be available for pre-sale in May.
