Hotel of the week: Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire, England
Vacation in style!

Each week, we spotlight a hotel recommended by some of the industry's top travel writers. This week's pick is Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire, England.

This historic estate an hour outside of London was "tailor-made for romance," said Keith Flanagan at Town & Country. Once a love nest shared by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham and his mistress, the property was owned by the Astor family when its Italianate mansion became a 20th-century showcase. A major recent renovation has "rendered the estate glamorous anew," but its past hasn't been forgotten.
The 38 antique-filled rooms are named after famous guests, including T.E. Lawrence and Charlie Chaplin, and the Astors' gardens and maze have been carefully restored.
