There are arguably two White Isles, both locked in a perennial jostle for supremacy: the hedonistic and the hushed. The former needs no introduction, all mega clubs and mega hangovers. The latter though, is a much more tranquil place – rugged, cacti-peppered landscapes; dragon flies dancing over ebbing pools; and long afternoons in hammocks with good reads.
Set in the countryside close to the village of Sant Llorenç de Baláfia, onefinestay’s Villa Los Amigos is very much in the “sleepy Ibiza” box – albeit close enough to town that a night on the tiles isn’t out of the question. An expansive six-bed, single-floor pile, it wraps around a neatly kept pool area with drooping trees, shaded verandas and a family-sized stretch of table for al fresco suppers and languorous breakfasts.
Why come here?
Part of onefinestay’s curated collection of properties, Villa Los Amigos offers guests sanctuary and seclusion; the comfort and personality of a smart home with the bespoke service of an ultra-luxury hotel. It’s also ravishing to look at, built in a Cali-inspired style that sees sweeps of exposed concrete sit tooth by jowl with banks of wood panelling and polite contemporary art. Yawning sofas are dressed with snappy throws and oversized cushions, while the floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto a vista free from the humdrum of other people.

So it’s terribly tasteful, yes, but it’s also remarkably well kitted out – everything from an integrated Sonos sound system to a cinema room in the basement. There’s also the kind of grown-up brute of a barbecue that should, at the very least, require a driving licence to operate, as well as a gym for those who prefer pounding a treadmill to the surrounding web of country lanes.
But while the property itself is the draw, as a onefinestay villa it comes with a host of service options that elevate the experience – including the use of an efficient concierge team that can build itineraries, manage bookings and cater to any niggling needs by call or WhatsApp. It’s a bonus that pays dividends long before check-in. Fed up of airport strain? The team can pop residents-to-be on a semi-private jet with Aero and glide them to Ibiza in lavish style – bypassing the queues and sans the risk of any luggage getting left on British tarmac.
Eating and drinking
A dedicated villa chef is available, on request, throughout the day, conjuring bountiful salads, exquisite seafood and traditional desserts. It’s a rare treat then to not only benefit from the skill of a professional cook, but have the option to steer the menu.
On the occasions that guests may wish to pivot from “do nothing” to DIY, a fridge is always fully stocked and pre-ordered wines and spirits are lined-up in anticipation of dressy poolside sundowners; the pop of a Champagne cork the punctuation mark on an afternoon well spent.
Outside the satisfyingly substantial walls of the Villa Los Amigos compound, Ibiza holds a range of culinary highlights. Casa Jondal restaurant on the island’s south is firm “big shades and expensive linen” country, with fantastic fish and prime people watching; Nobu’s Miso Black Cod is to be raved about as much as ever; and the rooftop at ME Ibiza serves locally-inspired plates with a side of smashing views. All are easily accessible from the property by chauffeur or cab.
Out and about
Setting aside late-night Ibiza and focusing instead on more sedate exploits, the pitching hills around Villa Los Amigos are ripe for exploring. Beyond that, there’s admittedly not a huge amount to do in the vicinity of the villa that is achievable by foot. Scenic coastal hiking routes are a short drive away and a guide can be organised through onefinestay. A day on the sea, meanwhile, drifting out to deserted sandbanks and squeezing in lunch at Formentera’s Juan y Andrea beachside restaurant is arguably a must. Yachts set sail from Ibiza Town and again, let onefinestay handle the planning.
