1. Hasan Minhaj may be the next permanent host of "The Daily Show"

Here it is, your Moment of Zen. Hasan Minhaj has emerged as a leading candidate to take over as permanent host of "The Daily Show," succeeding Trevor Noah, according to Variety. Though the report said he is "not guaranteed to win the position," the comedian is reportedly seen as the likely successor. Noah departed "The Daily Show" in 2022 after seven years, completing a shorter tenure than his predecessor, Jon Stewart, who sat behind the desk for 16 years. After Noah's exit, the show brought in a series of temporary guest hosts, including Sarah Silverman and Al Franken. Minhaj, who joined "The Daily Show" as a correspondent in 2014 and later hosted Netflix's "Patriot Act," was also one of the guest hosts. But in March, The New York Times suggested the show should utilize guest hosts permanently rather than hiring a single person to replace Noah. So when it comes to landing the full-time gig, best of luck to Minhaj against his competition of "nobody."

2. Gal Gadot claims "Wonder Woman 3" will still happen at James Gunn's DC

Fans of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, it's time to break out enough Champagne to fill the Nile. Gadot told Comicbook.com a third "Wonder Woman" movie will still happen with her involvement, even though James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting the DC universe. "From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we're gonna develop a 'Wonder Woman 3' together," Gadot claimed. The comment came as a surprise, as it was assumed that most major DC roles would be recast after Gunn's reboot. A new Superman has already been selected to replace Henry Cavill, and the rebooted DC is also expected to have a new Batman to replace Ben Affleck. A third "Wonder Woman" film from Patty Jenkins also fell apart in 2022. Still, Gadot seems to think she'll be back, saying, "I love portraying Wonder Woman. It's so close to and dear to my heart." So when it comes to the future of the character, is DC waiting for Gadot?

3. Leah Remini is suing the Church of Scientology

Leah Remini is bringing her war against Scientology to court. The actress, a former Scientology member, has brought a lawsuit against the church and its leader, David Miscavige, in California Superior Court "in an attempt to end what she alleges are mob-style operations and attacks on her and other alleged victims and survivors of the Church of Scientology and their advocates," according to a press release. Remini alleged that Scientology and Miscavige subjected her to "psychological torture, defamation, surveillance, harassment, and intimidation" for 17 years, which negatively affected her life and career. In particular, she accused Scientology's Office of Special Affairs of exacting "revenge and retribution" on anyone declared "an enemy of Scientology." Remini left the Church of Scientology in 2013 and in recent years has consistently been one of its most prominent critics. "I believe I am not the first person targeted by Scientology and its operations," she said, "but I intend to be the last."

4. Jessica Chastain's friendship with Oscar Isaac hasn't been the same since "Scenes from a Marriage"

They had marriage trouble on screen, and now they're having friendship trouble off screen. Jessica Chastain told Vanity Fair her longtime friendship with Oscar Isaac was negatively affected after they worked together on the HBO miniseries "Scenes from a Marriage," which depicts a couple's relationship falling apart. "I love Oscar [Isaac], but the reality is, our friendship has never quite been the same," she said. "We're going to be okay, but after that, I was like, I need a little bit of a breather." Making the series was "very tough," as there was "so much I love you, I hate you" in it, she noted. The two actors have known each other for more than 20 years and went to college together. But starring in the show "ruined our friendship," Chastain previously admitted to The Hollywood Reporter with a laugh. "We're not close anymore." On the bright side, at least another Oscar has come into her life.

5. "Scream 7" is reportedly in the works, possibly with a new director

The "Scream" series is eying some new blood. After the success of this year's "Scream VI," a seventh film in the horror franchise is "definitely in the works," Bloody Disgusting has confirmed. But Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from Radio Silence, the filmmakers who revived the series and directed the last two installments, may not return. Instead, Bloody Disgusting reports Christopher Landon has been in talks to take over directing duties. Landon is known for helming slasher comedies like the "Happy Death Day" films and "Freaky," as well as this year's "We Have a Ghost" on Netflix. As far as why Radio Silence might be leaving, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have been working on a mysterious monster movie for Universal, so it's possible they were too busy to do both. It's unclear which cast members will return and if Neve Campbell will be back after skipping "Scream VI" due to a salary dispute. But at this point, franchise staples are dropping faster than Ghostface victims.
