1. Timothée Chalamet's young Willy Wonka revealed in "Wonka" trailer
Oompa Loompa doompety sailor, Timothée Chalamet stars in the first "Wonka" trailer. Warner Bros. has dropped the first footage of "Wonka," the new Willy Wonka origin story movie that was supposedly a thing the world needed. Chalamet plays the title character as a young man, though he's already a chocolate maker in the prequel. He wants to sell it, but he's warned that he will be "crushed by the chocolate cartel" if he tries. The footage also teases elaborate dance numbers and a scene where Wonka makes people float in the air, and it ends with the deeply distressing reveal of Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa, who pulls out a flute and begins dancing. Paul King, the filmmaker behind "Paddington," is directing the film, which opens in December. The trailer and official poster also reveal the extremely creative tagline, "Discover how Willy became Wonka." The weeks of meetings it must have taken to come up with that were totally worth it.
2. Kristen Kish to succeed Padma Lakshmi as host of "Top Chef"
She can stand the heat, so she's staying in the kitchen. Kristen Kish has been named the new host of "Top Chef," succeeding Padma Lakshmi. Kish was the winner of the competition show's tenth season and has returned as guest judge. "'Top Chef' is where I started my journey — first as a competing chef, then a guest judge," Kish said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. "Now as host, I have the honor of helping to continue to build this brand." She'll officially assume the role for season 21. The relatively fast decision comes after Lakshmi announced in June that she would be leaving the show after 17 years. She said Tuesday she is "so proud" of Kish and "over the moon" that she'll be taking over as host, adding, "I'll be rooting for you and our whole crew next season." The announcement also confirms that there are, in fact, still shows not hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

3. Britney Spears' memoir gets a release date and title
Britney Spears will soon be spilling the tea wherever books are sold. Gallery Books has revealed the singer's highly anticipated memoir will be titled "The Woman in Me" and debut on Oct. 24. The book's website described it as a "brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope" written with "remarkable candor and humor." Spears confirmed she was writing a book in 2022, describing the process as "healing and therapeutic." But in May, The Sun reported the memoir was being held up "amid legal concerns over claims she had affairs with two Hollywood stars," with a source telling the outlet, "Britney is brutally honest in the book — there are a lot of nervous A-listers. Strongly worded legal letters have been sent to the publishers by people who know Britney and who fear what she has written." When it comes to earning publicity, that quote is what you call a gift from the book gods.
4. Tom Holland opens up about getting sober after being "enslaved" to alcohol
For Tom Holland, giving up drinking is the "best thing I've ever done." The "Spider-Man" actor opened up on the "On Purpose with Jay Shetty" podcast about getting sober, explaining he did so following a "very, very boozy December." After initially giving up alcohol just for January, "all I could think about was having a drink." This "really scared me," Holland said, so he extended dry January into February. After two months, he was "still really struggling," and he started to "worry that maybe I have an alcohol problem." Holland decided he wouldn't drink again until his birthday in June. But by that time, he realized he was "the happiest I had ever been in my life" without alcohol, so he wondered, "Why am I enslaved to this drink?" Holland, who now acknowledges he was "definitely addicted to alcohol," has been sober for a year and a half. "It's been amazing," he said. "I can't believe the difference that I feel from not drinking."

5. Christopher Nolan apparently isn't happy "Barbie" is opening against "Oppenheimer"
Barbenheimer mania is sweeping the nation, but Christopher Nolan is allegedly none too pleased. The director "was upset" when Warner Bros. scheduled "Barbie" to open on the same day as his film "Oppenheimer," sources told Insider. Nolan famously had a long relationship with the studio, but that fell apart after Warner Bros. movies were sent directly to HBO Max during the pandemic. Nolan, a big believer in the theatrical experience, was so angry that he took his next film, "Oppenheimer," to Universal instead. So some wondered if Warner Bros. was trying to get back at Nolan by releasing "Barbie" the same weekend as "Oppenheimer." "Barbie" director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie recently shared photos of themselves buying tickets for "Oppenheimer" and other summer movies in a show of solidarity. But when Insider asked Nolan if he has seen "Barbie," he gave what the outlet described as a "curt response" with "a hint of disinterest," simply saying, "No." He cannot sanction your buffoonery, Twitter.
