1. POLICE SHOOTING: SECOND MAN ARRESTED

A second man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes in Greater Manchester, police said last night. The 28-year-old is being held in custody on charges of conspiracy to murder; Dale Cregan, 29, remains in custody on suspicion of murder. Police warned of the "threat" of continuing gang wars.
