1. BRITONS KILLED IN NEPAL PLANE CRASH
Seven Britons are reported to be among 19 people killed when a plane ferrying climbers and tourists to the Everest region crashed in Nepal yesterday. The twin-engined Sita Air plane crashed into a river bank minutes after take-off from the capital, Kathmandu. The dead have not yet been identified. First reports suggest the plane struck a bird.
2. LIBOR RATE: RADICAL OVERHAUL PLANNED
Any attempt to rig the Libor rate would be a criminal offence under plans for a radical overhaul of the interbank rate to be unveiled today. Martin Wheatley, a senior official at the FSA, also proposes removing Libor from the control of the British Bankers Association. In June, Barclays was fined £290m fine for manipulating the system.

3. SWEDES URGED TO ‘ASSURE’ ASSANGE
Amnesty International has asked Swedish authorities to “break the current impasse” over Julian Assange by offering assurances that they will not hand him over to the US, where he could face a "real risk of serious human rights violations" because of WikiLeaks’ publication of US secrets. Assange has now been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy for 100 days.
4. HARRY DROPS NUDE PIC COMPLAINT
Prince Harry will make a formal complaint to the Press Complaints Commission over nude pictures of him that were printed in The Sun. The tabloid chose to print the pictures, taken in a Las Vegas hotel, appeared on the internet. The palace said: "It would not be prudent to pursue the matter further."
5. ISRAEL URGES ‘RED LINE’ OVER IRAN BOMB
Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday urged the world to draw a "clear red line" over Iran's nuclear programme in an address to the UN, arguing that time was almost running out to stop Tehran from having enough material to build a nuclear bomb. "Nothing could imperil the world more than a nuclear-armed Iran,” he said.
6. DID PM SNUB OBAMA TO FINISH TENNIS?
Downing Street has refuted a claim by Charlie Brooks, now facing charges in the News of the World hacking scandal, that he was once playing tennis with his friend David Cameron at Chequers when President Obama telephoned and the PM refused to take the call. “I’ll call back, I’m playing tennis”, Cameron is said have told aides.

7. MISSING MEGAN FOUND IN FRANCE
Missing schoolgirl Megan Stammers has been found in France with her maths teacher, Jeremy Forrest, police have said. Forrest, 31, was arrested and Stammers, 15, was taken into protection after they were discovered in Bordeaux. The pair disappeared last weekend after being filmed by CCTV on a cross-channel ferry.
8. HAMILTON QUITS MCLAREN
Lewis Hamilton is to leave the McLaren Formula 1 team and race for rivals Mercedes next season. The 2008 world champion has been with the British team since he was 13, but could not agree a new contract. He will replace Michael Schumacher at Mercedes. Youngster Sergio Perez will take over from him at McLaren.

9. ANTI-ISLAM FILM MAN JAILED IN US
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the Egyptian-American behind the anti-Islam film that sparked protests across the Muslim world, has been taken into custody in Los Angeles, California. He was arrested for allegedly violating probation terms following his release from jail on a bank fraud conviction. A federal judge refused him bail.
10. HOT TICKET: ABOARD WITH EVA AND KYLIE
Cannes film festival sensation ‘Holy Motors’ opens in British cinemas today. It’s a surreal story of a man who swaps between many lives, from assassin to captain of industry, while driven around Paris in a limousine, with appearances by Eva Mendes and Kylie Minogue. “Exhilarating,” says Empire.
