1. CAMERON TAKES CABINET TO ABERDEEN
The British cabinet was due to meet in Scotland today for the second time in 90 years. David Cameron has taken his ministers to Aberdeen, while SNP leader Alex Salmond hosted his Scottish Cabinet in Portlethen, just a few miles away. A report on the future of North Sea Oil topped both agendas with Cameron and Salmond advocating different approaches.

2. UKRAINE ARREST WARRANT FOR EX-LEADER
Russia has recalled its ambassador to Ukraine and condemned the removal of the country's president, Viktor Yanukovych, who apparently fled Kiev after days of violence. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and his current whereabouts are unknown. Interim president Oleksandr Turchynov will set up a government “of the people”.

3. SAVILE VICTIMS: WE WERE LAUGHED AT
Victims of Jimmy Savile today begin a High Court action for compensation from the late TV personality’s estate. In interviews with the NSPCC, 29 of the victims shared similar stories of being ignored or laughed at when they tried to report abuse. Others said they did not report the events for fear they would be mocked.

4. TWO WOMEN AND FOUR DOGS SHOT DEAD
An 82-year-old man has been arrested after the bodies of two women were found at a house in Farnham in Surrey on Sunday. They had been shot dead. One of the women was in her 60s and the other her 40s, they are said to have known the arrested man, who was a dog breeder. Four dogs were also found shot dead at the address.
5. PIERS MORGAN’S CNN SHOW TO BE CANCELLED
British journalist Piers Morgan’s primetime CNN talk show, taken over from Larry King three years ago, is to be cancelled, the network has said. Morgan’s advocacy of gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting seems to have caused a dive in ratings. Morgan says he may stay with CNN in a new role.

6. OLDEST HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR DIES AT 110
Alice Herz-Sommer, the oldest known survivor of a Nazi death camp, has died at home in London at the age of 110. Herz-Sommer was an accomplished pianist and spent almost two years in the concentration camp in Terezin with her son Stephan, where she was sent at the age of 40. She said music saved her life.
7. EGYPT'S GOVERNMENT STANDS DOWN
Egyptian army chief Abdul Fattah al-Sisi is expected to announce that he will run for the presidency after the country's government, of which he was a member, resigned today. Prime Minister Hazem Beblawi made the announcement in a televised statement, but gave no explanation. Presidential elections must be held by mid-April.

8. DLT TO FACE RETRIAL ON TWO SEX CHARGES
The former DJ Dave Lee Travis is to be tried again on two charges of indecent and sexual assault. He was acquitted ten days ago of 12 counts of indecent assault, but the jury failed to reach a verdict on two more charges. Travis said the decision meant that his nightmare was “now going to go on”.
9. US: FIRST OPENLY GAY MAJOR-LEAGUE PLAYER
America has its first openly gay player in any major-league sport with veteran basketball player Jason Collins, who came out last April but was not signed to a team at the time, signing a 10-day contract with the MBA’s Brooklyn Nets. Gay American football player Michael Sam is hoping to be signed by the NFL soon.
10. HOT TICKET: A TASTE OF HONEY REVIVED
A revival of Shelagh Delaney's ground-breaking kitchen-sink drama, A Taste of Honey, has opened at the National Theatre. A teenage schoolgirl, neglected by her mother, falls pregnant to a sailor but finds fleeting domestic happiness with a gay student. "Startlingly observant," says the Financial Times. Until 11 May.
