1. ANGRY TORIES PLAN NEW EURO REVOLT
Senior Tory MPs are plotting a new revolt over Europe after reports that German chancellor Angela Merkel put the stops on David Cameron’s plan to curb European Union migration. The Eurosceptics will table a bill this week in a bid to enshrine in law Britain’s right to control its borders and allow the government to override the EU’s principle of free movement of workers.
2. BIZARRE BANGS BAFFLE BRITAIN
People across Britain were confused by a series of loud bangs last night. The mysterious noises, which shook windows across the country, were heard around 9pm and 10pm last night. The Ministry of Defence says it does not know what could have caused them. As speculation soared on Twitter, one user said space debris re-entering the earth’s atmosphere may be responsible.
3. FERGUSON OFFICER QUITS FORCE
Darren Wilson – the US police officer who fatally shot unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in the Missouri town of Ferguson – has resigned from the force, his lawyer has announced. Neil Bruntrager says the resignation is effective immediately. Wilson reportedly took the move following threats against him if he stayed in the job.

4. MINISTER IN COMMONS ‘C**K’ DARE
A Tory Minister made a spoof Commons speech in order to say obscene words after a dare from friends. Communities minister Penny Mordaunt said ‘c**k’ six times, and ‘lay’ or ‘laid’ five times during the debate on poultry welfare. Critics say Mordaunt, who appeared on the ITV show Splash! earlier this year, should remember the Commons is “not a reality show”.
5. EX-BNP NICK GRIFFIN BACKS UKIP
Former British National Party leader Nick Griffin says he will vote Ukip at the general election. Writing on Twitter, Griffin announced: “I will hold nose & vote Ukip because it will help break up the Westminster system & hold Cameron’s feet to referendum fire.” He added: “Vote #UKIP to kick Cameron…but don’t be fooled by Toryboy Nigel.”
6. NEW EVIDENCE OF WORLD CUP CORRUPTION
A secret file with “incendiary” evidence of vote-buying by the Russian and Qatari World Cup campaigns lies in the vaults of the unsuccessful England 2018 bid, reports The Sunday Times. Officials from England’s World Cup bid gathered significant information from ex- MI6 agents hired to spy on its rivals and British embassies around the world, according to the dossier.
7. OSBORNE TO PLEDGE £2BN TO NHS
George Osborne is to announce an extra £2bn for the health service across the UK next year. The chancellor will reveal the extra funding for frontline services in his Autumn Statement on Wednesday, the final one before the general election. He will say the government can afford it because of the "growing" economy and its "tight control" of finances.
8. MELLOR QUIZZED OVER RACISM ALLEGATION
David Mellor has been questioned under caution by police over an alleged racist rant at a security guard, according to The Sun. The former Cabinet minister and QC shouted at the Polish worker for not standing directly outside his home in St Katharine Docks, according to the paper, and then clashed with a Nepalese guard.
9. BECKHAM UNHURT AFTER ‘CAR CRASH’
David Beckham and his son Brooklyn have been left "shaken" after a car crash. The pair escaped injury but the driver of another vehicle was taken to hospital. Police would not confirm the former England captain, 39, was involved in the crash in London Colney, Hertfordshire, yesterday afternoon. London Colney is the site of Arsenal’s training ground.
10. CHELSEA TOP AFTER SUNDERLAND DRAW
Chelsea remain top of the league despite being held 0-0 by Sunderland. Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says his side's 3-0 win over Hull was their most accomplished performance of his reign. Arsenal are sixth after a Danny Welbeck goal gave them victory over West Brom. Today, third meets fourth as Southampton host Manchester City.
