1. May's rivals say next PM must have backed Brexit
Michael Gove and Andrea Leadsom have made their pitches for Tory leadership, arguing the need for the next prime minister to have backed Leave in the EU referendum. Gove said the next leader needed to have "embraced the vision of independence". Leadsom said that it "would be odd" to appoint somebody who did not believe in leaving the EU. Theresa May voted Remain.
2. Queen urges 'quiet thinking and contemplation' after poll
The Queen has told politicians that “quiet thinking and contemplation” are called for in the wake of the Brexit vote. She acknowledged the difficulty of "staying calm and collected" in an "increasingly challenging world”. In 2014, she intervened in the Scottish referendum debate, saying: “I hope people will think very carefully about the future.”
3. FBI questions Hillary Clinton over sensitive emails
Hillary Clinton has been questioned by the FBI over her use of emails while she was secretary of state. A spokesperson for the US presidential candidate said it was a voluntary interview. The FBI is investigating Clinton and her aides over whether they mishandled sensitive information on a private email server she used while serving as secretary of state.

4. Comic Caroline Aherne dies at the age of 52
Comedian, writer and actress Caroline Aherne has died at the age of 52. Aherne, star and writer of The Royle Family and The Mrs Merton Show, had suffered from cancer, her publicist said. Sue Johnston, who played the mother of Aherne's character Denise in The Royle Family, said: "I am devastated at her passing and I am numb with grief.”
5. Jeremy Corbyn offers to 'reach out' to rivals
Jeremy Corbyn has offered to "reach out" to Labour MPs who oppose his leadership. The under-pressure Labour leader said he was willing to "work with the whole party to provide the alternative the country needs”. Corbyn also said he would stand again for the party leadership if his opponents triggered a new contest.
6. Is Australia heading for a hung parliament?
Australia is facing a hung parliament after a tight vote in its federal election. Twelve out of 150 lower house seats remain in doubt, with counting of pre-poll, postal and absentee votes to resume on Tuesday. In a very close contest, the official Australian Electoral Commission tally has Labor on 71 seats and the ruling Liberal-National coalition on 67 seats.
7. Auschwitz survivor Elie Wiesel dies at 87
Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel has died aged 87. The Nobel peace laureate died in America, where he lived and had been a citizen since the 1960s. His books about his experiences as a teenager in Nazi concentration camps, where he lost his mother, father and younger sister, have become influential bestsellers. The president of the World Jewish Congress has called him "a beacon of light".
8. Nicolas Sarkozy confirms he will run again
Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has confirmed he will run again for the country’s highest office. He will step down as head of his conservative party to pave the way for the return bid. Sarkozy lost the presidency in 2012 to the Socialist party’s François Hollande and has not hidden his ambition to run in France’s 2017 election.
9. Bristol baby shot in the head with an air rifle
A one-year-old boy who was shot in the head with an air rifle is in a critical condition. Police said the shooting was a "potentially negligent act". Harry Studley was taken to Bristol Children's Hospital with a head injury after he was shot at a block of flats on Friday afternoon. A man, 24, and a woman, 23, who are not related to the baby, have been arrested.
10. Shock at Wimbledon as Novak Djokovic crashes out
Novak Djokovic is out of Wimbledon after a surprise defeat by Sam Querrey. The victorious American, seeded 28th, completed a 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7-5) third-round win over the Serb after rain had suspended play on Friday evening. It ended the world number one's hopes of a calendar-year Grand Slam. Britain's Andy Murray, seeded second, has made it into round four.
