The daily gossip: October 24, 2019
Selena Gomez's new songs are probably about her Bieber breakup, Timothée Chalamet hated his haircut for The King, and more
1. Fans are pretty sure Selena Gomez's new singles are about her Justin Bieber breakup
Over the past few days, Selena Gomez has dropped two new singles, and loyal Daily Gossip readers know what that means: Amateur detective time! Fans have pored over the lyrics for both "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now" and discovered numerous lyrics that seem to allude to Gomez's much-publicized breakup with Justin Bieber, including a line about being "glad she dodged a bullet." If only there were a lyric about peeing in a mop bucket or abandoning a monkey in Germany to seal the deal.
2. Timothée Chalamet hated his haircut for The King
Timothée Chalamet's high-wattage star power hangs on more than a few factors, including his penchant for casually slipping into French whenever he feels like speaking it. But one undeniable aspect of his meteoric rise — his shaggy, well-coiffed dark curls — was shaped into an unflattering bowl cut for Netflix's The King, sending his fans into a day of mourning. As it turns out, Chalamet shared their concerns: "He loved his hair," says The King's hair stylist Alessandro Bertolazzi. "Sometimes it seemed his hair was more important than himself. I don't know if he wanted to cry or kill me in the beginning." Chalamet's concern was understandable — but in the movie business, directors get to choose the final cut.

3. Kylie Jenner files a trademark for 'rise and shine'
The Kardashian clan has never done anything they couldn't find a way to monetize, so it's probably no surprise that Kylie Jenner has filed a trademark for the phrase "rise and shine" after singing it to her baby in a TikTok video that ended up amassing 1 billion views. The trademark would only cover the use of "rise and shine" on a wide variety of clothing and cosmetics — so don't worry, grandmas and farmers, you probably won't get sued for using the phrase Kylie Jenner invented.
4. Disney is developing a Hocus Pocus sequel
Come little children and get thee a Disney+ account, because Hocus Pocus is finally getting a sequel. Just in time for Halloween, word has broken that the long-rumored sequel to the cultishly beloved 1993 film is in development, with plans for the movie to eventually debut on the new streaming service. Disney also hopes to bring back original stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, so let's hope they all still remember how to drive stick.

5. Drake brought McDonald's to the club
For his birthday party at a night club in Hollywood, Drake decided to treat himself and his guests to a true dinner of champions: Several large bags of rapidly congealing McDonald's. Social media posts for the party, whose guest list also included the likes of Rihanna, showcase a paper bag absolutely overflowing with containers of 6-piece Chicken McNuggets — because not even celebrities can track down those Popeyes chicken sandwiches.
