The daily gossip: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's divorce is actually happening, bad news for fans of Mr. Big, and more
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's divorce is actually happening, bad news for fans of Mr. Big, and more
1. Kim Kardashian files for divorce from Kanye West
It's now TMZ official: Kim Kardashian has reportedly filed for divorce from Kanye West. The couple, who have been married for seven years, experienced fairly public marital difficulties over the past 12 months, including the rapper last year accusing his wife and mother-in-law of trying to have him locked up. Kim is reportedly asking for joint custody of the couple's four kids, who range from 7 years to 21 months old. Kanye "knows that the marriage is over, and there's nothing that can be done right now," a source told People earlier this week. "He also knows what he is losing in Kim." The dissolution of the marriage is supposedly going to feature heavily on the final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, proving that even when splitting up, Kimye is never not on brand.
2. Is the Sex and the City revival going to kill off Mr. Big?
There will be a Big hole in the Sex and the City revival — and it isn't just the absence of Samantha. Chris Noth, who played Mr. Big in the original series, will not be returning for HBO Max's And Just Like That…, Page Six reports, despite the fact that he and Sarah Jessica Parker's character, Carrie Bradshaw, were still married at the end of the second film. It's unclear how Mr. Big's absence will be explained, although the scrapped script for an unmade third Sex and the City film reportedly killed him off with a heart attack. The actor who played Miranda Hobbes' husband, Steve Brady, is apparently still in negotiations, but potentially won't appear in the reboot either. And just like that, everyone was a widow?

3. Kacey Musgraves takes a shot at Ted Cruz while helping Texas
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) might have left his home state in a lurch when he fled his "FREEZING" house in Houston to vacation in Mexico, but Kacey Musgraves would never. The Golden, Texas-born singer decided to help out her state during its winter storm crisis while also knocking the Republican senator. For $29.99, you can buy a "Cruzin' for a Bruzin'" T-shirt on Musgraves' website, with all the proceeds going to Feed the People Dallas, Casa Marianella, and the American Red Cross of Central and South Texas. Musgraves promoted the shirt with a message to her senator: "Petition for @tedcruz to retweet this link," she tweeted. "A quick and easy way to really help from the comfort of your home! We're halfway to raising $100k for Texas! Come on, Ted." Yeah, come on, Ted.
4. Netflix just posted The Trial of the Chicago 7 for free on YouTube
Looking for something to watch this weekend? Did your old roommate's ex-boyfriend's parents finally change their Netflix password? Good news: The Trial of the Chicago 7 will be free to watch on YouTube until Saturday at 11:59 p.m. PST. Writer and director Aaron Sorkin explained that the decision to show the movie for free is to "commemorate the anniversary of the verdict in this historic trial." Starring an ensemble cast that includes Frank Langella, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Eddie Redmayne, The Trial of the Chicago 7 follows eight ideologically disparate Vietnam War protesters who were put on trial for demonstrating during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. The film received five Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture - Drama, so if you're doing some catching up before the ceremony next weekend, start here.

5. And the next Bachelorette is…
If you're a fan of surprises, you might want to close out this newsletter now, because Bachelor Nation oracle Reality Steve has predicted the next Bachelorette and he is rarely wrong! The announcement likely won't be confirmed until current Bachelor Matt James' After the Final Rose special airs during the week of March 15, but if you just can't wait, the next Bachelorette will supposedly be … Katie Thurston! Matt already endorsed Katie as his pick for the next Bachelorette, although he eliminated her during their one-on-one on Week Six. That means Katie would be only the second Bachelorette ever cast by ABC who didn't place in the top four. We're a few weeks away from knowing for sure, but no-nonsense Katie would be an inspiring pick.
