Cristiano Ronaldo commits his future to Man Utd

The midfielder dashes reports that make him the makeweight in deals to bring Kaka or Franck Ribery to the Old Trafford club

While the tabloid sports pages have been deciding his future, turning him into the makeweight in a deal to bring Franck Ribery or Kaka to Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo has - for the first time in his career - been quietly letting his football do the talking for him. Now he's broken his silence to tell the Sun that "I'm very happy at Manchester and I want to stay here. I am very focused on winning the Champions League." With Man Utd playing football that no other side in Europe can currently match, why indeed would he want to be anywhere else?

Whether Arsenal fans will be as happy to hear their top-earning star Emmanuel Adebayor commit his future to the club is another matter entirely. Adebayor was largely anonymous in the two semi-final legs against Manchester United, and has had a disappointing season in general after having fomented dissent over last summer and agitated for a move to AC Milan - and then been rewarded with a wage-structure-smashing £80,00 a week deal. Many at the Emirates would be happy to see him pack his bags and head for AC Milan, should the Rossoneri still be interested in him...
