Deadline day: Chelsea confirm Cuadrado, Anderson to quit Man U?

As the transfer window inches shut the last-minute deals are coming thick and fast:

• Chelsea have secured the services of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado for an initial fee of £23.3m, which could rise to £26.8m. The deal is also likely to see Egyptian Mohamed Salah head in the other direction and join Fiorentina on loan, reports the BBC. Colombian Cuadrado has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Stamford Bridge. The additional performance related payments could see his fee rise to as much as £26.8m, the same value as the release clause in the 26-year-old's Fiorentina contract.

• The BBC also confirms that Andre Schurrle has left the Blues and completed a move from Chelsea to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. The BBC claims the fee was £22m but The Guardian claims the deal was worth £24m and was "pushed through by the Bundesliga side just before the early evening cut-off in Germany".

• Aston Villa, the team that cannot score have made a £5m bid for Rickie Lambert, the Liverpool striker who suffer from a similar problem, according to the Daily Telegraph. Lambert only joined Liverpool in the summer but has failed to make an impact at Anfield. "Liverpool have rejected a number of inquiries from Premier League clubs to take Lambert on loan today but Villa are tabling an offer to sign the 32-year-old on a permanent basis," says the paper

• Juan Mata has let slip the news that many Manchester United fans were hoping for: Anderson is heading back to Brazil. Writing on his blog the Spaniard said: "I want to wish good luck to my friend Anderson, who is back to football in his native Brazil. All the best, my friend!" However, could Mata have jumped the gun? The Guardian reports that while he is close to a move to Internacional "there is still some work to be done on the transfer". Anderson arrived at Old Trafford in 2007 but has made just 70 appearances since then and has suffered problems with his weight.

• Aaron Lennon may be feeling rather pleased with himself after managing to avoid being loaned out to relegation-threatened Hull or Leicester and instead secured a move to Everton for the rest of the season. Lennon "had the choice over a plethora of clubs" claims Sky Sports, including Leicester, Hull and Stoke but has ended up with the Toffees. The loan deal could become permanent at the end of the season when Lennon "will reassess his options", says Sky.
