A hair salon in London is offering silent appointments for people who dislike small talk. Not Another Salon gives customers the chance while booking to request no conversation except questions relating to the haircut itself. “With mental health issues on the rise, feeling comfortable to say when you need time out couldn't be more important,” said the salon’s owner.

Leeds man fastest 84-year-old in the world

A grandfather from Leeds has been named the fastest 84-year-old in the world. Tony Bowman set a world record in the 80- to 84-year-old category of the 80-metre hurdles, crossing the finishing line in under 17 seconds. He says he doesn’t worry that exercise is dangerous at his age. “At the back of my mind I think, if that’s it - curtains - when I’m running, that’s a great way to go,” he said.

Aliens may already be probing Earth

Aliens have planted self-replicating probes on our planet, according to a scientist. Zaza Osmanov, from the Free University of Tbilisi in Georgia, says that extraterrestrial beings are using the probes to explore Earth. He says that if anyone “detects a strange object with extremely high values of luminosity increment” then it might be one of these probes.
