Newly installed speed cameras in an Italian village have recorded more than 58,000 driving infractions in just two weeks. The speed limit in the tiny village of Acquetico, population 120, is 30mph. The highest speed recorded by the cameras was a driver clocked at 83mph.

Venomous snake found in carry-on luggage

An Indian man has been arrested after a security check of his carry-on luggage revealed the presence of a highly venomous snake in a sack of potatoes he was carrying. The passenger was released after officials determined that the man was unaware of the deadly Indian krait snake in his bag.

Man accused of stealing 18 tons of chocolate

A Russian man has been accused of stealing 18 tons of chocolate from a truck in the city of Saransk. Police say the 54-year-old delivery driver made off with the confectionary, worth around 2.5 million rubles (£30,000), in an attempt to pay off a newly acquired debt.
