Speaking to The Daily Telegraph ahead of the match at Old Trafford, the 31-year-old revealed that Manchester City were also interested in him. He said: “Basically there have been some possibilities both with Manchester City and with Manchester United.
“With Manchester City when I received that offer [in 2016] I actually talked to the club, I talked to Juventus and we decided that it was good for me to stay and to keep on winning with Juventus. And this year when I was told there was a possibility to go back home, to come back to Juventus, I just stopped listening to any other offers and I decided to come back here.”
Skriniar yet to sign Inter deal
Bonucci is not the only Serie A defender who has been linked with Manchester City and Manchester United. The rivals are also keen on Inter Milan’s Slovakian centre-half Milan Skriniar, who is reportedly yet to agree a new contract at the San Siro. (CalcioMercato)
Chelsea target Icardi and Piatek
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is targeting a Premier League title challenge this season and to do so he will need attacking reinforcements in his squad. Top of his list is Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi but Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek could be a cheaper option. (Daily Mail)
Blues scout Romagnoli
Chelsea’s Italian boss Sarri also likes the look of AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli. Sarri sent his scouts to the San Siro last weekend to watch the 23-year-old Milan captain in action in the derby against Inter. (The Guardian)
Fulham keen to keep Sessegnon
Fulham want to tie down Ryan Sessegnon to a longer contract. The 18-year-old has 18 months left on his current deal but Fulham are set to open talks with the English youngster. Tottenham have long been linked with a move for the left-sided player. (Daily Mail)
City eye De Jong and Neves
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reportedly wants to add a new midfielder to his squad. Goal.com reports that City are prepared to pay €70m (£61.5m) plus €20m (£17.6m) in bonuses to Ajax for 21-year-old Frenkie de Jong. ESPN says that City also have Wolves star Ruben Neves in their sights.
