On Wednesday, airport police fatally shot an unidentified man outside Ohio's Port Columbus International Airport. The man had drawn scrutiny by unsuccessfully trying to buy a plane ticket using a woman's identification, Columbus police say, and when airport police followed him out to his car, illegally parked in the departure zone, there was a confrontation.

The man lunged at two Port Columbus officers, one of whom fired at the suspect, Columbus Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner told reporters. When he got up and moved toward one of the officers, knife in hand, a third officer fired several shots, killing the man. "At this point, this was just a violent encounter between an armed man and the officers here," Weiner said, adding that there is no signs this was terrorism-related.
