Stuart Scott, the iconic ESPN anchor and longtime voice of SportsCenter, died Sunday of cancer. He was 49 years old.
The anchor achieved star status at the sports network with his charismatic humor and signature "Booyah" catchphrase. Scott had his appendix removed in 2007 after his first cancer diagnosis, but the disease returned with greater severity twice more.
"He didn't just push the envelope," former ESPN anchor Dan Patrick said in a statement to the network. "He bulldozed it."
