Rick Perry explains how Hanukkah is a lot like the Boston Tea Party

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) on Tuesday marked the beginning of Hanukkah by observing that "like the light of the ancient Menorah" America has been around "longer than anyone could have predicted." More specifically, he said that the Jewish holiday reminded him of the Boston Tea Party.
"The same spirit of freedom that inspired the Maccabees to rise up against a foreign empire motivated our Founding Fathers to rebel against the Crown on that fateful night," he said in a statement.
The statement did not go on to say whether Perry would, as he memorably did once before, also celebrate Hanukkah like so:
