Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Sunday defended his suggestion that Republicans force a government showdown with President Obama over his executive action on immigration.
Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Cruz said congressional Republicans should block Obama's nominees and selectively fund the government to stymie his immigration order — a move that would risk another government shutdown. That led host Chris Wallace to question Cruz's strategy given that the 2013 shutdown, intended to defund ObamaCare, "backfired badly" on Republicans.
"You're willing to shut down departments, and you're willing to take the backlash?" Wallace asked. "I mean, it didn't work very well with ObamaCare, sir." --Jon Terbush
