A tiger was on the loose in Montevrain, just outside Paris, on Thursday morning. The animal was eventually found — after a two-hour search by both local and national police as well as firefighters.
The search party employed tasers and helicopters in order to catch the animal. A woman in Montevrain, whose husband owns a local grocery store, first saw the tiger in the store's parking lot. She took a photograph, thinking it was a lynx, and brought the photo to authorities.
French authorities still don't know where the animal came from or how it got loose. The mayor's office has "ruled out the theory that it came from a circus," Time reports. No tigers have been reported missing nearby.
