The Philae lander has successfully touched down on a comet.
The historic event marks the first time a spacecraft has executed a controlled landing on a comet. The European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft released the Philae landing capsule early Wednesday morning, and it has landed on the 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet.
