U.S. jobless claims fall to lowest level in 14 years

The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell to 278,000 last week, beating economists' projections and hinting at an improved job market, the Labor Department sad Thursday. With the drop, the four-week average for jobless claims — which irons out week-to-week fluctuations — is now lower than it has been in 14 years.
