WHO announces its new Africa chief

The World Health Organization announced Wednesday that it has elected Botswana doctor Matshidiso Moeti as its new Africa director.
Senegalese Health Minister Awa Marie Coll Seck made the announcement during this week's meeting of the WHO's Africa regional committee in Benin. The announcement comes as Ebola continues to ravage West Africa.
"I'm very happy and proud of the way this process was conducted," Moeti told The Associated Press. "As regional director, I will work with every country in all the regions of our continent to improve the health of our populations."
