Report: Alex Rodriguez admitted to the feds he used steroids
That's according to an investigative report from the Miami Herald, which found that contrary to Rodriguez's vehement public denials about steroid use, the Yankees slugger confessed in January to the Drug Enforcement Agency that he took banned performance enhancing substances.
According to a written "report of investigation," Rodriguez admitted paying [Biogenesis head Tony] Bosch for supplies of testosterone cream, lozenges laced with testosterone (aka "gummies") and human growth hormone injections.
"Rodriguez injected the HGH into his stomach," the DEA report stated. "Rodriguez said Bosch told him the HGH would help with sleep, weight, hair growth, eyesight and muscle recovery." [Miami Herald]
In 2009, A-Rod admitted to taking PEDs while playing for the Texas Rangers between 2001 and 2003, though he has denied taking steroids since. MLB suspended Rodriguez for the entirety of the 2014 season after implicating him in the Biogenesis scandal.
