At 30, Republican Elise Stefanik is projected to become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.
She is also the first Republican to win New York's 21st District, ABC News reports. The previous record holder for youngest woman to serve in Congress was Democrat Elizabeth Holtzman, elected in 1973 at the age of 31.
Stefanik worked on the Domestic Policy Council during President George W. Bush's administration, and was a director of debate preparation for Rep. Paul Ryan during his vice presidential campaign.
