Control of the Senate may not be decided until December, as Louisiana's Senate race looks to be headed to a runoff. NBC, ABC, CNN, and Fox all project that no candidate will reach the 50 percent threshold necessary to win outright, and that Sen. Mary Landrieu (D) will face Republican Bill Cassidy in a head-to-head matchup next month.
That outcome is bad news for Democrats, as polls suggested Landrieu's best shot to win was in today's three-way race. Heading into the election, FiveThirtyEight gave Landrieu only a 19 percent chance of holding her seat.
