T-Pain, the top-hat-wearing human embodiment of Auto-Tune, is back, and he's on his way to being vindicated. Yes, the man known for popularizing that particularly grating pitch-correcting effect in songs like "Buy U A Drank" and, yes, "I'm On A Boat" ditched his signature dreads, donned a pair of clear glasses, and headed to NPR, where he performed some stripped-down, Auto-Tuneless versions of some of his biggest R&B hits as part of the station's Tiny Desk Concert series.
And guess what? T-Pain actually has a gorgeously raspy and soulful voice. So is an acoustic T-Pain album on the way? We can dream. --Samantha Rollins
