Poll: Democrat Michelle Nunn leads Georgia Senate race

A day after national Democrats appeared to give up hope of pulling off an upset victory in the Senate race in Kentucky, a new poll shows that Democrat Michelle Nunn, the daughter of Democratic stalwart Sam Nunn, is leading Republican David Perdue, 48 percent to 45 percent, in the contest for the Georgia Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R).
The poll, conducted by Survey USA, dovetails with recent moves by Democrats to bolster their support for Nunn. Politico reported last night that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is setting aside an additional $1 million to air ads on Nunn's behalf in Georgia.
A win for Nunn would be huge for Democrats, who are otherwise looking at a dismal playing field in their bid to hold their majority in the Senate.
