Jimmy Carter: 'I could have wiped Iran off the map'
Former President Jimmy Carter says he could have won re-election to a second term had he acted more "manly" in dealing with Tehran during the Iran Hostage Crisis.
"I could have wiped Iran off the map with the weapons that we had, but in the process a lot of innocent people would have been killed, probably including the hostages," he says in an interview with CNBC.
Carter adds that he believes he made "the right decision" to not bomb Iran, even if it meant he didn't show Tehran "that I was strong and resolute and, um, manly."
