In May, Senate hopeful Scott Brown presented a small business owner in New Hampshire, Janice Leahy, with a curious award describing her as a "hero." But in large font, Leahy's honorary plaque also bore the campaign-friendly line, "Women for Scott Brown."
The irony: As Leahy told Time, she isn't quite "for" Brown.
Leahy, a Republican, says she was left confused and embarrassed by the whole episode. She also says she is not sure she will vote for Brown in November, given his 2012 vote against an equal pay bill, an issue close to her heart given that she works in a male-dominated industry. [Time]
Polls of the New Hampshire Senate race have consistently found Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D) with a robust lead over Brown, the former Massachusetts Senator who relocated to make a 2014 bid in the Granite State. The latest Real Clear Politics average gives Shaheen a 5.4 percent edge.
