Libyan militants throw pool party in abandoned U.S. embassy's residential compound

An Islamist militia says it has "secured" an abandoned diplomatic compound in Libya's capital city of Tripoli. And, as one does when there is no tut-tutting supervision to be seen, the group celebrated with an impromptu pool party.
The U.S. Embassy building has sat vacant since late July when the government evacuated all American diplomats amid increased fighting in the area. It was not clear when the video, which was posted online Sunday, was shot.
Dawn of Libya, a coalition of militias who controlled the compound as of Sunday, told the Associated Press they'd captured the building from a rival militia that had been inhabiting it. U.S. Ambassador to Libya Deborah Jones said on Twitter that as far as she knew, the compound was "being safeguarded and had not been ransacked."
