'All the way' with LBJ

HBO set to produce adaptation of All the Way starring Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston's portrayal of President Lyndon Johnson will be making its way from the Broadway stage to premium cable, The Associated Press reports.

HBO announced Wednesday that it has acquired the TV rights to the Tony Award–winning play All the Way, starring the former Breaking Bad actor. The play's author, Robert Schenkkan, will in turn write the adapted screen version.

The play portrays the story of Johnson's first year in office after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, including Johnson's work to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and up through his landslide election victory.
