The new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer gives us more of that talking space raccoon
Our first glimpses of Marvel's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy have been pretty wacky, but the latest trailer for the superhero blockbuster brings things back down to Earth. "I was only a kid when I left Earth," says Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). "And I had no idea what the universe had in store for me."
From there, the new trailer descends into boilerplate superhero origin story stuff: saving the galaxy, giving epic speeches, walking around in slow-motion while an epic-sounding song plays. But conventional as it may be, the new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer also has the one thing that's pretty much guaranteed to get more people interested: more of that awesome talking space raccoon.
In the new trailer, Rocket Raccoon flies a spaceship, fires a machine gun, laughs like a maniac, and argues about whether or not it's kosher to keep bombs lying around. Guardians of the Galaxy looks like a lot of fun — but maybe Marvel should have just given the raccoon his own movie instead. --Scott Meslow
