President Obama announced this afternoon that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is leaving his post in mid-June. His deputy Josh Earnest will replace him in the position.

Carney, who's fielded reporters' questions for the past three-and-a-half years, said he had an "amazing experience" that was "so fulfilling." Obama had high praise for Earnest, who worked on his 2008 presidential campaign. "His name describes his demeanor. Josh is an earnest guy and you can't find just a nicer individual," he said.
