Cliven Bundy no longer a Republican, embraces Independent American Party

Cliven Bundy is saying goodbye to the Republican Party. On Friday, Nevada's most famous rancher registered with the Independent American Party during an event in Las Vegas, MSNBC reports.

Bundy made headlines in April when his fight with the Bureau of Land Management over grazing his cattle on public land turned potentially explosive. Armed supporters began arriving on his ranch, and many conservatives backed him in the media. Apparently, that didn't mean much to Bundy. "I haven't got much good out of the Democrats and Republicans so I decided to try a new one," he said, according to the Elko Daily Free Press.

The Independent American Party views itself as a group of "patriots" who believe that "Faith in God and a belief in moral law is essential to maintain freedom" and "states are sovereign and should not be 'commanded' by the federal government." If this one doesn't work out for Bundy, there's always the Green Party.
