The News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, has retracted a story that contained a "major error," according to the paper.

The article quoted Hardin County Sheriff John Ward as saying that most people become police officers "because they have a desire to shoot minorities."

Ward told Kentucky's WLKY that he didn't make that statement and that an employee at the paper "changed the words as a prank."
