On Monday, mourners gathered in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to remember the Jan. 12, 2010 earthquake that killed more than 300,000 people.

After a Catholic Mass service, President Michel Martelly and the first lady placed flowers in front of a piece of rubble left by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake. The country is creating a memorial for those lost in the disaster.

"The life of the people changed in 35 seconds that day," Martelly said. "But in the days that followed, solidarity came from everywhere."
