New York City jail guards used force on prisoners 4,074 times last year

That's according to an Associated Press analysis of prison records that found the use of force by New York City corrections officers rose to an all-time high in 2014. Those 4,074 separate incidents translate to an average of roughly 11.2 per day.

The findings come one month after the Justice Department announced it would sue the city over alleged civil rights violations of youths at Rikers Island.
