The dates are now set for the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland: July 18 to 21.
The Republican National Committee made the announcement on Wednesday. The convention is being held earlier than in years past; 2012's took place in late August while 2008's was in early September. Organizers had contemplated holding the convention in late June, but LeBron James threw a wrench in that plan, Cleveland.com reports; most of the convention's events will take place in the Quicken Loans Arena, but that's also where the Cavaliers will play if they make it to the playoffs. By holding the convention in July, the GOP will still have earlier dates without having to worry about finding a different venue.
