A drone carrying three kilograms (about 6.5 pounds) of methamphetamine crashed in a Tijuana parking lot near the California border on Tuesday night. Officials believe someone was trying to fly the drone over the U.S. border. Officials say the drone, an assembly-kit DJI Spreading Wings s900, may have crashed because it was overloaded.

At least 150 drone-smuggling attempts have been made from Mexico to the U.S. since 2012, Vice notes. Authorities in Tijuana are investigating Tuesday's incident.
